About Emily Harding | Yorkshire Violinist

A Classically Trained Violinist

Emily Harding, known professionally as the Yorkshire Violinist, is a classically trained violinist and educator based in Huddersfield. She studied at The University of Huddersfield and the Royal Northern College of Music, refining her craft before embarking on a versatile and vibrant musical career.

Performing Across the UK

Emily performs across the UK as a soloist, electric violinist, and ensemble collaborator. She has worked with renowned groups including Symphonic Ibiza (where Five, Eternal and Damage have been the support acts!) and the celebrated Storm Electric Strings, and has shared the stage with the BBC, Channel 4, Sir Cliff Richard, and Andrea Corr. Highlights also include theatre appearances nationwide and serving as Orchestral Leader of the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra from 2013 to 2019.

As Yorkshire Violinist, Emily brings her artistry and professionalism to weddings and events, creating bespoke live music experiences that elevate every moment. Her extensive performance experience ensures couples enjoy a polished, elegant soundtrack for their day, tailored to their vision.

Passionate Educator

Emily also nurtures the next generation of musicians through Yorkshire Violinist tuition services. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience in state and private schools, music services, and private lessons, she offers tailored guidance in violin, viola, piano, and music theory to students of all levels.

Life Beyond Music

Away from performing and teaching, Emily finds inspiration exploring the Yorkshire countryside as a keen hiker.

She shares her life and love of music with her husband Paul,

also a professional musician, and their

three children: the ‘Teenager, Tweenager, and Threenager’.

Why I Started Yorkshire Violinist

When I launched Yorkshire Violinist in June 2022, it was about more than starting a business — it was about blending my love of music with celebrating life’s most joyful moments. At the time, my youngest was just a few weeks old, and I had stepped away from classroom and peripatetic music service teaching. I wanted a career that allowed me to connect with people, share my artistry, and bring meaningful moments to life — one wedding at a time.

Yorkshire Violinist is about crafting live string music for weddings across Yorkshire and the UK that is tailored to your vision. From solo violin to ‘violin plus…’ duos, string trio, or full string quartet, every performance is treated as unique — never “just another job.” I work closely with couples to ensure the music perfectly complements every part of their day, from ceremony to drinks reception and evening celebrations.
